Two nights, 2 sellouts. The Gophers men's hockey program announced that both games of its home-opening series, Oct. 22 and Oct. 23, are sold out. The puck hasn't dropped at home yet and the building is already spoken for.
The program pointed fans who don't have a seat yet to SeatGeek and posted separate ticket links for each night. Anyone shopping now is buying resale, so prices will depend on what sellers ask, not on a face-value box office.
The announcement also came with a challenge for the crowd: "Now it's your turn to set the tone #Gophers fans." That's the real point of a home-opening sellout. Every seat sold for a first weekend back on campus ice means a louder room and a statement to whoever comes through the door first. In college hockey, the first home weekend sets the tone for everything after it, and Minnesota wants a full, loud building from the opening faceoff.
For fans who already have tickets, the dates are a Thursday, Oct. 22, and a Friday, Oct. 23. That's a back-to-back weekend series, the format that drives the college hockey calendar. The post doesn't mention puck drop times, so check the team's schedule before heading over.
Be careful with resale listings that come from anywhere else. And if you're shut out of both nights, the season is only getting started.
