Aphid, a four-piece made up of UMN students, put out its debut EP "Sucker" on July 10. Per the Minnesota Daily, the band built the release by combining each member's own influences and skills into what the outlet described as a dynamic, multi-genre collection of songs.
The lineup includes vocalist and guitarist Isaac Schroeder and drummer Jack Urtuz, according to the Minnesota Daily's report. Between the four members' varied musical backgrounds, "Sucker" was assembled to move across genres rather than settle into one lane.
For a campus scene that's often more about cover sets at house shows than original releases, a homegrown debut EP from a band of current students is worth flagging for anyone tracking Twin Cities' student music.
